Ok moving on to the second day ...
Well the leg cramps are finally gone . YAY !(:
But after taking my morning shower , my hands hurt like crazy . So weird -_-
Anyways i still had to go for NCO ... Not wanting to disappoint the school . Haha so noble (:
Well after getting ready , i went out of the house like 6.50 AM
I was like a walking zombie ! But then my mum brought me to MAC AGAIN . Haha (:
Bought sausage and muffin with egg ... Milo somemore ! Haha then when my mum was driving , i started munching on it . Yummy :P
Moving on to the morning ... I reached NCO at 7.50 . Haha so early then i saw cheryl so stand beside her . Haha she talking to one girl sia . I should have ask her for NO sia ... Now regret !!!
K then i walked to the dance studio again ... Put JJ junior(mace) in the room . Haha (:
Then went down to the basketball court for our footdrills ... I was like what the hell , i wearing my Band-tee and i was so going to STINK !!! -_-
Ok then ...
FOOTDRILLS
Ok our squad changed to another officer ... Yes ar !!!
And finally today i could really focus and concentrate and the officer explained everything loudly and clearly . He is GOOD !(:
Haha the guy look like syahmi ... This camp is like so weird -.-
Then guy is also so humorous also like syahmi . Maybe the brother ???
Haha ok moving on , he tought us a lot of this today but i dont even know all the command even though i'm from a military band and i was like in a confused state . BLUR -_-
Ok then he made an effort to explain everything when our squad is in any doubt . He is GOOD .
O righttee then ... after that , he ask us to sit and rest and told us funny things . He is GOOD .
Then when we got the thing wrong and wrong like 5 times ! He kept demonstrating for us and in the end , we finally got it correct . He is GOOD .
Then after that , he released us early to gave us enough time to have a break and move on to the next session which was the lecture . He is so GOOD.
Rating for our surgent . 5/5 . Haha full marks (:
Then after our 10 minutes break ... It was 9.30 sharp and we headed to the auditorium (:
LECTURE
When we got in the room , all the drum majors went . Ahhhhhhhh (: From the hot sun to a air-con room . Can you imagine how great is that ???(:
Ok well , today's topic was INSPIRATION & ASPIRATION by Miss lily Goh (:
Miss Goh is a deaf musician(in other words , she is musician that cannot hear) , sign language instructor and performing artist (:
She is really a strong and independent woman . The majors really admire her and clapped for her when the slideshow told us all those details .
She was like Beethoven . And people always said hearing is very important for a musician ! But she did not care but her believe had made her get on with life (:
And of course , she has a helper who helps convert her sign language then telling us what she wanted to say . Haha so cool !(:
She then showed us her certificates ... Piano and drums . Grades 5 and above ... She was good and not only that , she believes in music . Not ever giving up her passion for music . Haha (:
When she was young , she realise deaf people can play percussion !!! So she continued working really hard to pursuit her DREAMS .
She join the SAC band ... and her first solo was playing the Happy melody solo in 1994-1997 (:
She was a woman with determination , perseverance and most importantly .... Love for life (:
How did she play you ask ??? Instead of hearing , she felt the vibrations on the floor and the tempo was given by her instructor who used the mallet to tap her shoulders . Haha cool right !(:
Sometimes when the instructor gets too excited , he hits harder and harder ... Just imagine how she felt . Haha poor thing (:
Then after getting all those certs ... She joined the Singapore idol in the year 2004 (:
Why is that so ...
1)Confirms what she wants in life ... To just become a worthless woman or a great musician that pursuits her dreams ???
2)To inspire the deaf ... To tell everyone that ppl who are disabled are not USELESS and tell ppl that they are like us , normal people who can get on with life (:
3)Realise her dream ... Not sitting back but giving her all to what she really wants in life (:
At first she has NO music background ... But look at her now !!! She a musician and a independent woman (:
She also told us ... You will need , 10% talent and 90% hardwork and that's her secret to SUCCESS (:
What she want to tell us is that you have to really work extremely hard to achieve success in life !!! And that is really important and it has gave me a great impact .
And so from this day forward , i will work really hard to help the band achieve to great excellence .
Her motto ...
LOVE YOUR DREAM. LIVE YOUR DREAM AND NEVER LOSE YOUR DREAM ...
Ok that is all for todays lecture and after that ... Moving on to our BREAK (:
We ate biscuits ... and then the drum majors went up to the dance studio and SLACK for awhile .
Then i was time for the Display technique session ...
Display technique
Ok today we actually finished all our foramtiona and now for the polishing ...
Ok then we did the formation like 5 times and wat i observed was that all the others drum major's marching was sloppy except some ... I thought all bands have learned marching ???
Well i'm so fortunate to be in a marching band . Haha i'm so proud to be in the band too (:
Ok moving on ... Todays marching was really funny as the other majors kept doing stupid things . Haha (:
Then we finally finished it . Haha and its only the second day . O YAY !!!(:
The we the drum major was released earlier for the job well done . Haha (:
DRINK , WIPE SWEAT , DRINK MORE then it was lunch time (:
LUNCH TIME
Haha this time of the day is one of my favourite because its time to EAT (:
All the majors were like RUNNING to the table ... Like some hungry person that has not eaten for days -_-
But luckily , ronald , lester and i was already there . Thanks to the kiasu spirit . Haha (:
What can we say ... We're hungry (:
Ok today's menu is some VEG , FRIED NOODLES and CHICKEN WING . Ya (:
The truth was ... We 4 people ate like crazy . In 3 minutes and we were finished . I come in 1st , Jk was 2nd , ronald 3rd and lester last . And mind you , they are sec 3s ok (:
Once a champion ... Always a champion . Muhahaha (:
Then after eating ... again we went up to the dance studio to slack (:
And we still have 45 minutes ...We chat and went down early too .
Mace technique
We showed our skills and exchange pointers and i learned to spin the mace with one hand from ronald . Haha thanks dude , now i can show off (:
ok then we again waited for the mace technique instructor from the police force to come ...
We sat down like 15 minutes and then he arrived ...
And before that ... The other majors all prayed that the rain will not come . I was like shocked and ask myself . Why the change of attitude ???
And then we carried on with our second formation of POP(passing out parade , 7th november) and we did the formation like crap -_-
The instructor scolded us and kept telling us to FOCUS and listen to INSTRUCTIONS ...
He said the this two components of a leader or any other members in the band must have while in a formation ! Its very IMPORTANT ... Must remember !(:
Then we do the formation again ...
While doing one part ... Sir shouted and suddenly ! He lost his voice and we felt really bad .
We kept asking him to rest and drink water but he refused !!! He is so determine . And suddenly , all the major finally really gave their best and finished till the set 12 ... We all wanted him to rest .
If you guys were there ... You'll see the team spirit and it showed that we all had inside of us . We were DETERMINE and we PERSEVERED .
Its something worth to see and spend time of (:
Then i finally knew why the sudden change of attitude ... The officer was like our father , wanting the best from us , his sons ! And from the first day onwards , we already knew he TRUSTED us and BELIEVES in us ...
When his voice broke , we did not want to disappoint him so we gave our best !!!(:
Then after the formation ... One of the majors gave him some water and we all rest together like one family (: and waited for the rain to stop ...
In the end , the rain did not stop so we could not finish the formation and had to continue today .
In the meantime , he talked to us and told us have to command respect and told us to always focus or things cannot be DONE .
He also said that 2moro we have to finish around 8 more sets and then we are done . And left polishing and all this have to be done 2moro !
He kept saying ... Can you guys do it ???
We said ... YES SIR(Confidently) (Loudly till there was echo , Cool!)
So he told us to pray that 2moro there will be no rain or else we cannot finish our formation and the consequences will be Disastrous ...
And then Mr Chua the camp officer released us and GO HOME (:
Today wasn't really a tiring day but a day of achievements . Thats all for now . BYE (:
