WOW i had gone this far ... 110 post !!!(:
JJ ... the DJjj ... The Jster ... The mighty J is BACK !!!(:
I so proud of myself . Well basically today was a LONG , TIRING but FULFILLING day (:
Well this is it the first day of the NCO camp .
Pretty nervous today and kinda blur . I was severing with fear !!! or was it the cold water which i took a bath in ???
Haha whatever it is ... ITS THE FIRST DAY (:
Ok after showering , i got change in the nco shirt . Haha so cool !
Then waited for my mum to fetch me . woohoo , i feel so fortunate as taking a bus would be like 1 long hour (:
Then my mum was so afraid that i would faint so she bought me MacDonalds for breakfast . Haha (:
Then on the way there , i was shivering as the air-con was too cold and note to self : Never shower in cold water in the morning ever again !(:
Haha finally i arrived at my destination (:
Then i sms cheryl to ask where she was and suddenly i saw her so i can save my massage . Haha (:
We stood awhile not knowing what to do and kept looking around ... And i have failed my duty as a SL(sectional leader) as we did not really talk much .
Haiz how i hope all my friends join back the band ....
Then waited for awhile and we moved to the multi-purpose hall for the briefing but then must move to the basketball court as there was some problem ...
Briefing
Ok then Mr chua started to talk and stated why we could not meet in the multi-purpose hall ...
And i learn my first lesson as a leader ... Must be FLEXIBLE st all times !!!(:
We(All the drum majors and band majors) played a game .
It was called the tree , squirrel and hunter ...
Well this game was kinda lame -_- but i managed to hold a cute girl's hand . Haha (:
K now in back in serious mode ... Beep ... Done !
After all that , we all had basic footdrills ... I was so unlucky !!! The officers were so soft like some squeaky mouse . btw her name was atikah which reminds me of someone gf but soon to be wife . Haha (;
Ok then not learning anything at all in the footdrill ... Which wasted 1 hour of my time !!! ARGH!
I could not focus at all today ... Not knowing what is happening . Haha (; Maybe i slept to late last night . Hmmm whatever it is , its now over .
Next moving on to the LECTURE ...
LECTURE
Then for the first time ... i was actually listening to some guy talking and yapping about bands .
Actually the truth is that i liked it . Haha (: Not myself lately ...
The guy was Ho hwee long from NIE ... Important man . Haha (:
He told us a lot of things and gave me a lot of knowledge of the history of the bands in singapore(:
Basically ... Bands started in the 1965 . The ministers wanted all the schools to have bands .
It was a humble beginning . And all those schools which do no have a band have to give a reason . So cool !(:
Then in the 1970s ... It was told that to have more bands and intruments (:
And that point of time . There was only military bands but it does not mean all marching but only it was really convenient and there was only brass and woodwinds . There was no concept of symphony bands .
Moving on to 1980s where it was the maturing period ...
Which the band had to do something about the intruments like the sound so the French horns , oboes and basson was then introduced . Cool right !(:
THEN !!! I finally got the most important info ... Haha french horn is so important in a band !!!(:
Haha so proud of myself (: French horn gives the band more shape and creates another melody called counter melody .
1991- Finally new music and repertoire was made by young conductors thus the new ideas and making more songs . Ha !
Then in year 2001 , there was a new concept of music which made music more extract like ART and more emotions and feelings could be felt . So smoothing @.@
Then here comes my fav topic ...
LEADERSHIP QUALITIES . Haha (:
1)Dedication- Willing to sacriface time for the band (:
2)Commitment-Put your soul in the work ... and putting your best in everything you do (:
3)Selflessness-Put other things like interest aside only thinking of the band (:
4)Passion-Long lasting love for the band and music and then giving interest in what we do ):
(Ok i have to admit something , there was one period not long ago , my burning passion for the band was GONE . And i lost all interest in the band ... And i once thought of giving up but then i continued hanging on and finally now i have regain that special love ...)
5)Conviction-Always believe on what we are doing ...
6)flexible-One must be flexible in order to have things started , and a leader must always be flexible !
7)Cannot be too confident-Results are uncertain . Yes you must be confident but not TOO confident (:
And thats all i think ...
Then we had a break ... Ate biscuits (:
Then it was time for our display technique in short ... Formation (:
Display technique
Ok we waited in the basketball court and sat down waiting for our instructor to come ...
When he arrived , we greeted him and started arranging ourselves A-J
I was in the position G8 ... Haha at the corner somemore !!! And i was with my friends . So lucky.
Then after doing some parts and we moved to the multi-purpose hall as the other drum majors was so scared of the SUN!
I was like come on ... You guys are drum majors , going to spin the mace regardless of weather !
So gay man -.- Haha (: (Saying all this in my mind , not wanting to get beat up by this sec 3s man)
Ok moving on, We have done a few sets of formation . It was like taking so long as some bands were only indoor bands and marching in a formation is like so alien to them -_-
Then we all sat down and our instructor talked to us ... I was not listening as i was like so tired .
ARGH then after his blabbering ... It finally stopped as it was lunch time . Haha (:
Lunch time
Ok today's food was not too bad ... Fried rice , some veg and 2 chicken nuggets (:
Then my friends ronald , lester and jink kai was like after eating ... They sat at a corner and stare at those pretty band majors and so i joined them . Haha (:
Those lechers ... Ha ,cannot stand them sei , always making me laugh (:
Then we went up to the dance studio to grab our mace as 30 more minutes more and it will be our Mace technique training (:
My fav man , i was waiting for the whole day and finally it was time for us drum major to show off . Haha (:
Ok 30 more minutes so the gang and i sat down in the dance studio and enjoyed the air-con (:
Then after that we all went down together and waited for the instructor to come ...
Mace Technique
It was 2 o'clock already , and finally the instructor came ...
He is from the police force and has tought a lot of drum majors previously so he is experienced (:
Then he was like so fierce but a good instructor ...
Altough he is fierce but he is far . He wants a lot and expects a lot of thing from us as we are the DRUM MAJORS !!! Bam bam bam ...
He first introduce himself and then brought us to the field to start on our mace training and tought us how to hold the mace , left and right turn , mark time , counter marching(backwards) .
He was really good ! Not like the some other instructors ... I could not bother as they were talking so soft and i could not even hear them -.-
Then after perfecting all that he has tought us ... He went on to the formation which we also had to DO ! I was like so shock that we needed to march outside the hot sun while the band majors sit in an air-con room playing music ...
I was like what the hell -.- But i love sunburn so who cares ???(:
When we were doing the formation , other majors were like hating the sun which kinda reminds me of Gu Xin and eleanor so afraid of getting sunburns -o- and the drum majors were like singing ... rain , rain come again ... It was so weird -_-
Then it started to rain ... Haiz ):
And then we were given a 10 minutes break ...
DRINK , WIPE SWEAT , look at girls , DRINK ...
And then the instructor told us to fall in ... In the end , we completed 4 sets then it started to rain again but this time , we continued . Haha (:
Then lightning came and we were like holding the mace up like 300 over ppl changing in some lightning rod and seeing whose the lucky guy who gets shock ! Haha (:
Then luckily the teacher came and told us to do into the shelter . But just now when i saw lightning , i was not scared at all man ... Only determine to finish the sets we were given to do (:
OH MAN MEGA BUMMER !!! the rain did not stop and the instructor talked to us ...
We were also scolded and told to always focus and look whatever he tought us and apply on the formation (:
Haha btw the instructor look like my UNCLE . HA (:
Then we were released and when i sat down , my legs started to cramp and sore man . I almost cried )':
I did not really do any exercise in the holidays so after doing all this vigorous workout . I was like my leg hurts like shit man ...
Then i also realise those drum majors all look like my friends and some seniors so i was completely freak out . Haha (:
One look like Gim Kai , Ronald look like Johann , One of the senior in the nco camp look like Natasha , one look like wei rong , one has the look of Joseph but has eleanor and nidia slang and one looked like ika . Haha weird right (:
That is all for the FIRST DAY IN NCO . Haha (:
Basically , i enjoyed myself today and i hope the pain will go away ... Ouchie !)':
